You’ll see virtual lunches, book club, webinars, and even in real life (IRL) meetups. All events are free for STC-MGL chapter members. Non-members will pay a fee for webinars, but other event types are free for everyone.

Election Results for 2024

The Society for Technical Communication Michigan Great Lakes Chapter, the Nominating Committee, and the Council members are pleased to announce the final results of the 2024 STC election. We are also excited to announce the new appointed Extended Council.

Of 29 eligible voters, 15 (52%) cast a ballot.

Thank you to everyone who nominated these candidates, and thank you to the candidates for running for these positions.

Note that the 2024 election slate was prepared in accordance with the current Chapter bylaws. The election was open from Monday, May 27, 2024 at 9:00am to Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 11:59pm EDT. To be eligible to vote, members must have paid their dues by 31 January of the election year. All eligible members received a ballot and invitation to vote via email.

Votes were cast through a secure, third-party software, provided by ElectionBuddy, with certification by the Nominating Committee that the election results were accurate and confidential. All STC election rules were strictly adhered to, and all necessary internal controls were in place to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the voting.

The final election results have been certified and were announced at the annual end-of-year meeting of the Chapter on 20 June 2024.

Nominations are now open for the STC Michigan Great Lakes chapter’s July 2024–June 2025 program year!

Would you like to volunteer for a chapter leadership position, or do you know anyone who would make a fantastic addition to the STC-MGL leadership team? We encourage you to send your nominations or questions to nominations@stc-mgl.org. Please note that candidates must be current chapter members.

Opportunity is Knocking!

The STC Michigan Great Lakes (STC-MGL) chapter is having a logo design contest!

You could win a $50 Amazon gift card by designing a logo for the new STC-MGL chapter, formed when the STC Southeastern Michigan and West Michigan Shores chapters merged. The chosen logo will be used throughout our social media platforms, on our website, and in our supplementary materials.

Requirements

  1. Use a vector-based application, such as Adobe Illustrator or Affinity Designer, to design a logo based on our mission and goals. To learn more about our chapter, visit our chapter website and visit the STC website to learn more about the organization.
  2. Images must be completely vector-based and licensed or free for website and print use.
  3. Up to three submissions per person. Submit entries to our council.

Technical specifications

  1. The submission should be a ZIP package containing a total of six files, a 5-page editable PDF file, with one variation per artboard, and a PNG generated from each artboard, as follows:
    • The general site or application icon is 512 x 512 pixels at 72 ppi. This is also used for social media.
    • The masthead for the website is 1200 x 280 pixels at 72ppi.
    • The T-shirt template is 2000 x 2000 pixels at 200ppi.
    • The travel mug template is 916 x 582 pixels at 200ppi.
    • A logo no more than 800 pixels wide at 300ppi for use on a three-fold brochure.
  2. All art must be vector based so that we can generate art at new sizes as requirements change.
  3. The background for all images must be transparent.
  4. Use colors and fonts that will coordinate with the current website theme.

Other Details

Submission deadline: Friday, October 30, 2020 at 5 p.m.

Judging: The STC-MGL Council will review the entries and select a winner who will be notified by November 13, 2020 via email. We reserve the right to declare that there is no winner.

Prize: $50 Amazon gift card and credit on the STC-MGL website for at least 6 months, as well as permanent portfolio rights.

Virtual End-of-Year Networking Event

Please join us on Thursday, June 18, to celebrate the end of our successful 2019–2020 program year!

During this networking event we’ll share our personal highlights and accomplishments as a chapter, recognize outstanding contributions from council members, and introduce you to the new 2020–2021 STC Michigan Great Lakes chapter executive council.
